Some of the DOs and DON’Ts for new driving learners.

When you are to learn a new skill like driving you must know some of the basics of that skill so you can enhance the learning experience and make the lessons more fruitful and easy.

1. First you must get familiar with the car you are going to drive. Get comfortable with the car and try to learn the dimensions of your car like the width between the tires the length and width of the car structure, the distance between the body of the car and the ground.

2. Do not use mobile phones and try to avoid as many distractions as you can since a single distraction on the road can result in a fatal accident. Keep your eyes and focus on the road and you must avoid drinking and driving like you avoid a plague as both can result in heavy debts and eventual death.

3. Adjust your seat according to your height and the pedals. The seat should be aligned in accordance with your height and pedals because you need your full strength to put pressure on the breaks in case of an emergency.

4. Do not stress over how to hold the steering wheel as studies have shown the is no correct way to do that. You can hold it in a way that will make it easier for you to steer. For new learners, though it is advised to hold the steering wheel at the “10 o'clock and 2 o'clock” position.

5. Maintain a good amount of distance from other vehicles. Although brake systems are good in new models of cars it is still advised to keep some distance in between you and other vehicles so that is if the pull breaks suddenly, even with slow reaction time you will have enough time to redirect your own vehicle or to pull breaks and make a good and safe decision.
